When i started using 3ds Max, there was no Edit Poly, or even uvUnwrap. If you sit back and look at what todays version of 3ds Max can do, versus what it could do back in the day. At the end of the day, as long as the rendered image of pixels look’s good, it doesn’t matter how you got there. In a real world scenario, based on everywhere I’ve ever worked, ever application is being used, capitalizing on the strong areas of each one.

It’s like comparing athletes to one another. It’s one thing to suggest improvements and new features, but to compare max to maya or blender….i don’t think that many people truly care to hear about it. Over the years there have been endless gripes and complaints from every which way. Yeah it’s not perfect and it has it’s issues or bugs here in there….but what people don’t realize, is that every application faces the same problems. Just wanted to shout out and say I love using 3ds Max. USDView is also now shipped with its required dependencies.Ī lot more is included, please see the official list on Autodesk’s website, Changsoo Eun’s more comprehensive list on, and the release notes. It also includes improved performance for exporting mesh and scene data and enhanced support for exporting/importing Photometric Lights and cameras. USD for 3ds Max now supports exporting animation data such as node transform animations and vertex animation cache.

The tolerance threshold now enables welding to solve across all open gaps along the symmetry line by looking for all matching pairs of open edges within the tolerance distance.
